Galatasaray Ranked 3rd

It’s well-known that scoring from the penalty spot is one of the easiest tasks in football. The statistics heavily favor the attacking team once a penalty is awarded, which is why refereeing decisions often spark heated debates. With the controversial implementation of VAR, penalty area incidents are under more scrutiny than ever before.
A penalty kick, taken from 12 yards, presents a prime chance to score, and the designated shooters eagerly anticipate the opportunity to boost their statistics. About 80% of penalties are successfully converted, and that percentage rises for some of the top penalty takers in history, including Harry Kane, Ronald Koeman, and Cristiano Ronaldo. Using Transfermarkt data, we examined which clubs were awarded the most penalties throughout 2025.
Which Clubs Were Awarded the Most Penalties in 2025?
After analyzing data from the top ten league clubs across all competitions, we found that Benfica topped the list with 26 penalties awarded last year—five more than any other club—and successfully converted 23 of those. The Spanish media often speculates about perceived refereeing bias concerning their two leading clubs, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

As illustrated in the graphic above, Real Madrid received more penalties than their rivals in 2025, ranking second with 21 penalties, while Barcelona came in tenth with 14. Galatasaray rounded out the top three with 16 penalties awarded, impressively converting 15 of them. Notably, major European clubs like Bayern Munich and PSG also feature in the top ten, ranking fourth and fifth, respectively.
