Regarding the match against Wolves, securing a significant victory and a clean sheet is crucial, but it’s essential to build momentum as we approach the New Year and avoid any setbacks, right?
“Absolutely. We need to maintain our momentum. They demonstrated against Arsenal that they could have easily walked away with at least a point. In the Premier League, anything can happen. Both teams have their challenges, but in this particular match, we can’t make excuses. We must aim for victory and will strive to achieve that.”
You mentioned Bruno, who can be quite convincing. Is there any chance he could persuade you otherwise?
“No chance. He will not be playing. You can definitely write that he won’t be facing Wolves.”
Hello, Ruben. In terms of recruitment, you’ve previously noted mistakes, and it has been a long-standing issue in the past. However, this year it seems the recruitment has been solid. You’ve talked about players like Ayden and Dorgu, who performed well tonight. It appears that the summer acquisitions are contributing positively. Why do you believe the recruitment has been successful this time?
“I’m not entirely sure. Sometimes, it just takes a bit of luck. I believe these players have the potential to achieve even more. We’re working collaboratively to find common ground when it comes to decision-making. There are instances where I might have one perspective, while Jason [Wilcox] and the board might have another, but reaching a consensus is vital. We have to take the long-term view; after all, the manager’s role can change. However, it’s also critical that the manager’s vision for play is understood and integrated. Every player we bring in must align with that collective vision; otherwise, they won’t come. We assess how they train, live, and their specific characteristics, and I believe we’ve performed well in this regard. Still, there’s more to unlock from these players. Take [Matheus] Cunha, for instance; Ayden is a young talent, and Cunha along with Bryan [Mbeumo] know our league well, which makes their integration and performance a bit smoother.”
