571 updates

Transfermarkt has updated the market values for 571 players in Serie A, marking the last of the top five leagues to do so. The top four players remain unchanged: Lautaro Martínez (€85 million), Alessandro Bastoni (€80 million, both from Inter Milan), Kenan Yıldız (€75 million from Juventus), and Rafael Leão (€70 million from AC Milan). Newly entering the top five is Como’s Nico Paz, whose market value increased by €10 million, rising from €55 million to €65 million, surpassing AC Milan’s Christian Pulisic (€60 million) to claim a spot among the league’s most valuable players.

“Paz’s technique, vision, and spatial awareness differentiate him,” said Transfermarkt Area Manager Italy, Jatin Dietl. “These skills allow him to dictate the pace of play and deliver accurate passes. While pressing isn’t his strongest suit, he compensates with intelligent movement. He’s also proficient in dribbling and aerial duels. With ten direct goal involvements, Paz is certainly a standout talent, alongside Yıldız. However, Real Madrid has a buy-back clause for just €10 million, suggesting his departure to Spain is inevitable.”
Other notable talents include Atalanta’s Honest Ahanor (+€5 million to €25 million), Cagliari’s Marco Palestra (+€16.5 million to €25 million), and AC Milan’s Davide Bartesaghi (+€15 million to €18 million). “These three are significant surprises this season,” remarked Dietl. “Ahanor has validated Atalanta’s substantial investment, showcasing excellent physical attributes and tactical acumen. Bartesaghi has emerged as a dynamic left-back blending strength and precision.”
Serie A Market Values: Palestra Takes the Spotlight – Bonny and Esposito Players to Watch
Meanwhile, Dietl pointed out Palestra as the most intriguing of the trio. “Initially a right-back, he is versatile enough to play on both flanks and in midfield. His tactical intelligence, physicality, and stamina make him attractive to top clubs across Italy and Europe. However, Atalanta is seeking at least €40 million for his services, likely leading him to a Premier League club rather than another Serie A side.”
Lecce’s Tiago Gabriel has also caught attention, as his market value rose by €12 million from €3 million to €15 million. “He’s regarded as a potential Premier League center-back,” noted Dietl. “Standing at 196 cm, he possesses impressive physicality, aerial prowess, and positional intelligence, adapting well to Lecce’s high defensive line.”
At Inter Milan, two young forwards, Pio Esposito (+€5 million to €35 million) and Ange-Yoan Bonny (+€12 million to €35 million) have been performing well. “Both have exceeded expectations and are now regular starters,” Dietl shared. “Bonny has continued his positive trajectory from Parma, while Esposito returned from a Serie B loan with valuable experience. Inter chose not to pursue other options after a failed transfer for Ademola Lookman, as both displayed strong pre-season form.”
Serie A Market Values: Downgrades for Thuram, McTominay, and David
Unfortunately for Inter, there have been some downgrades. Nicolò Barella suffered a decrease of €5 million to €60 million, and Marcus Thuram’s value dropped by €15 million to the same figure. “Thuram’s development has taken a negative turn,” Dietl explained. “Recurring injuries have hindered his form, and at 28, his market value has consequently declined.”
This decline isn’t isolated to Inter players. Scott McTominay from Napoli, a standout last season, saw his market value drop by 10%, from €50 million to €45 million. “After a brilliant prior season, the expectations have been too high for him this time. Consistent performances aren’t enough to maintain a high market value, especially at the age of 29,” Dietl noted.
Canadian forward Jonathan David’s struggles have also resulted in a market value plummet, with his worth decreasing by €10 million from €45 million to €35 million. “Juventus was thrilled to land such a valuable free agent last summer,” Dietl said. “However, David has yet to replicate his Lille form at Juventus, raising concerns about his adjustment, especially after only registering three goals and one assist in 21 matches across all competitions.”
Understanding Transfermarkt Market Values
Transfermarkt market values are derived from various evaluation methods, with significant input from the Transfermarkt community, who thoroughly discuss and assess player worth. These values do not equate to transfer fees, as the goal is to estimate what a player could fetch in a free market. Factors such as individual transfer specifics and contextual conditions influence these values. Transfermarkt does not use algorithms for these assessments; further details can be found in the market value definition on their site.
