Fredrik Sjøvold, Oskar Spiten-Nysæter & Edvin Austbø - Three young stars to watch in Norway market value update

Transfermarkt has released an update on the market values of 388 players in the Norwegian Eliteserien League this December. This league has gained a reputation for nurturing exceptional young talent in recent years. For instance, Manchester City acquired midfielder Sverre Nypan from Rosenborg for €15 million last summer, while superstars like Erling Haaland and Martin Ødegaard have emerged from this league over the last decade. Here, we spotlight three young talents currently active in Norway who have received market value upgrades this winter, along with insights from TM’s Norway scout on the latest promising youngsters.

Fredrik Sjøvold – ‘Reminiscent of Philipp Lahm’

Young right-back Fredrik Sjøvold from Bodo Glimt has seen his market value increase by +€1m this December, solidifying his position as the most valuable player in the Norwegian top-flight at €8m. Bastian Schmitz, Transfermarkt’s Data Scout for Norway, shared: “At just 22 years old, Sjøvold boasts considerable experience, having completed three seasons of European competition with Bodø. Although he is smaller in stature and quite agile, he excels defensively and contributes significantly to attacking plays. He is a well-rounded player and reminds me of Philipp Lahm in his style of play.”

Edvin Austbø – The Rising Star

No player saw a greater increase in value than Viking winger Edvin Austbø, whose market value soared by +€2m to €7m. Schmitz offered insight: “This 20-year-old left winger has always been recognized for his immense talent, but he truly came into his own during Viking’s title-winning season. He is highly agile, a strong dribbler, technically proficient, and has a powerful shot. A transfer to a top league seems probable in his future.”

Oskar Spiten-Nysæter – Promising Teenager

At just 18 years old, another significant winner from the update is Molde’s Oskar Spiten-Nysæter, who saw his value rise by 48.2% to €4m, making him the most valuable teenager in the league. Schmitz elaborated: “The left winger is already making his mark in Molde’s starting lineup at such a young age. He is incredibly fast and poses a real threat in front of goal. His potential is enormous. However, in my opinion, it might be premature for him to transition to a top-5 league at this stage, as he still requires playing time for further development.”
