ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
Since 2006, Lyon has only missed out on the French title once, and they currently sit at the top once again, maintaining a flawless record in their nine matches played so far.
While Paris Saint-Germain is the only team to have interrupted Lyon’s dominance during this period, they appeared to be strong contenders this season. However, they suffered a heavy 6-1 defeat when the two teams clashed in late September.
Lyon’s impressive domestic form has carried over to Europe, where they have secured victories against reigning champions Arsenal, Austrian side St. Pölten, and rivals Wolfsburg, whom they have defeated in three finals. In their latest outing, they found themselves three goals down to Juventus at half-time but made a remarkable comeback to earn a point, with Renard netting the equalizer in stoppage time.
Ada Hegerberg remains the standout player and top scorer for the team, having scored three of her six goals this season in this competition. US internationals Lindsey Heaps and Korbin Shrader bring energy to the midfield, while the squad is also filled with experience and talent, with goalkeeper Christiane Endler widely regarded as one of the best in the world.
