The release date for players has been postponed by one week from the original schedule, with the tournament set to begin in Morocco six days later. This change will impact Amad, Bryan Mbeumo, and Noussair Mazraoui.

The world governing body announced: “In accordance with the same principles applied for the FIFA World Cup 2022, the release period will now start a week earlier, beginning on Monday, December 15.”

They also noted that this decision followed “productive discussions led by FIFA with key stakeholders, and the collaborative spirit shown by CAF (the African football federation) helped to mitigate the impact on all involved parties.”

As for the hosts, they are expected to include Mazraoui in their lineup, kicking off the competition against Comoros.
