Ruben's Press Conference: Unveiling Insights, Part One

Ruben, on Monday, you mentioned that your team still has a long way to go to reach your goals. Last year and over the summer, we took your comments at face value, but this week you had a full week off while your opponents were playing in Europe on Thursday night. Isn’t this exactly the type of match Manchester United should be prepared to excel in?
“At our club, we have a similar expectation. Last year, we faced pressure to win every match and received significant criticism for not meeting that standard. Therefore, there are no excuses here. I’ve spoken about the impact of Europe before, and I’ll reiterate that whether last year or this year, we must consistently aim to win games.”

Are you disheartened by your team’s current position?
“If I reflect on our performances, I believe we should have garnered more points. We had control in several matches and even held advantages, only to lose our grip on those games. It’s truly disappointing and frustrating, particularly after our last match against Everton.”

On Monday, the disappointment was evident on everyone’s faces. How do you prevent the team from spiraling into a negative mindset?
“It was challenging to regroup this week. As expected, processing the result and defeat was tough. However, we must continue moving forward and focus on our next game. It’s crucial to recognize that in our league this season, circumstances can shift swiftly. So, we need to reset our mindset and concentrate on the upcoming match.”
