Between 2011 and 2018, Jones earned 27 caps for his country, making his international debut under Fabio Capello in a 2-2 match against Montenegro, where his club teammate Wayne Rooney received a red card.
He participated in three major tournaments: Euro 2012 and the subsequent two World Cups held in Brazil and Russia. Reflecting on his experiences, he acknowledged both the challenges and unforgettable moments he encountered throughout his international career.
When asked about his feelings towards international breaks as a player, he responded, “It really depends on my performance and that of the team before the break. If you’ve played well and won, it’s an excellent way to head into the internationals, but you have to keep in mind that you might be facing some of your club teammates beforehand.”
