I wanted to ask you about Casemiro. Around two years ago, Jamie Carragher mentioned that he was done in the Premier League. What’s your take on how he has managed to turn things around, and what does he bring to the team?

“He brings a wealth of experience and serves as a role model for everyone. Initially, he was trailing behind almost every midfielder, including Toby [Collyer], but he fought hard and put in the work to earn his place back on the national team. His contribution is vital for us. Today, he made a significant effort, pressing high and then tracking back, and he’s excelling at that. I’m really happy with his progress. Other players should take note of Casemiro. He recognizes how quickly football can change; it all comes down to working hard. If you’re the best or I believe you’re the best for the game, you’ll get your chance if you put in the right effort.”

Many Premier League teams are competing in Europe this season, but you’re not among them. Are we now seeing the advantages of having the entire week to train with your players consistently?

“Absolutely, you can see that in our results. The team has been performing significantly better since the start of this season compared to last. We have new players who are more aligned with our style of play. There’s a notable difference. Any team in this league that has to juggle European matches and domestic play finds it much tougher, and we experienced that last year. Like I said before, having just one game per week is a significant advantage, and we need to make the most of it.”

Do you believe today’s win carries more weight than the victory over Liverpool, especially considering Brighton’s history at Old Trafford and your comments after their win here last season?

“I do feel that way. Today’s performance felt more complete. No matter what one might say about the Liverpool match, they didn’t truly deserve to lose; we deserved to win, but it wasn’t fair to say they didn’t play well. Today, we showcased a more well-rounded approach—controlling the ball, creating chances, defending both high and low. It wasn’t just about making a statement, but I also feel a greater sense of achievement as a manager today compared to last weekend.”
