<p>Africa continues to significantly influence top-tier football, producing numerous star players who shine at the highest levels. The 10-player shortlist for the 2025 African Footballer of the Year Award has now been announced. Notable past winners include Didier Drogba (2006 & 2009), Yaya Touré (2011 & 2014), and Mohamed Salah (2017 & 2018). Last year's award went to Ademola Lookman, the Nigerian winger for Atalanta. The latest nominees were selected by a panel of experts appointed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), recognizing players, coaches, and teams that made a "significant impact" from January 6 to October 15 of this year.
