7th MV Club in England
Since the unparalleled success under Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United fans have faced a challenging decade. As one of the most significant clubs in English football, United has not claimed the Premier League title since Ferguson’s retirement in 2013. Last season, their longtime rivals Liverpool matched their record of 20 top-flight titles. Rúben Amorim had a tough inaugural season at Old Trafford, marking the club’s lowest-ever Premier League finish at 15th place and suffering a defeat in the Europa League final to Tottenham.
Upon his appointment, Amorim cautioned that ‘dark days’ were approaching, a sentiment that has largely held true during his tenure. However, he expressed optimism about the eventual return of ‘good times’ for United. Recent positivity has emerged following a remarkable victory over Liverpool at Anfield. According to Transfermarkt’s latest assessment, United remains the seventh most valuable team in England and the 11th globally. Here, we break down the players who saw significant market value changes in this update.
Manchester United: Key Market Value Changes
Only four players from Manchester United received an increase in their market values in October: Bryan Mbuemo, Senne Lammens, Matheus Cunha, and Ayden Heaven. Mbuemo topped the list, with an increase of €15m, raising his value from €55m to €75m, reflecting the transfer fee United paid Brentford. Lammens (+€11m) and Cunha (+€10m) also saw notable increases that aligned with their respective transfer fees. Although Heaven has only made three Premier League appearances this season, his valuation doubled, recognizing his position as a first-team squad member at United.
On the flip side, seven players experienced downgrades, most notably Manuel Ugarte, whose value decreased by €10m. The Uruguayan has not lived up to expectations since his €50m transfer from PSG last summer, despite working again with his former Sporting CP manager, Amorim. Lisandro Martínez’s valuation dropped due to inactivity, while both Bruno Fernandes and Amad saw their values decline, even though they are integral to the squad. Additionally, Kobbie Mainoo and Joshua Zirkzee’s dwindling minutes this season have impacted their market value negatively.
