Serie A market values: Kenan Yıldız now in top 3 - Christian Pulisic returns to personal best

Following last week’s LaLiga update, the Italian Serie A has become the second of the top five leagues to have its market values updated. A total of 156 players in Italy’s top division received revised market values. Notably, Inter Milan’s Nicolò Barella has dropped out of the top trio, now valued at €65 million after a €10 million decrease. However, Juventus star Kenan Yıldız experienced a significant rise, propelling him into the top three. On the downside, Lautaro Martínez, the striker for Inter, saw his valuation dip from €95 million to €85 million, yet he still retains the title of the most valuable player in Italy.

Serie A: All new market values at a glance

“While he remains the top player in both ability and value, his status has diminished over recent months,” said Area Manager Italy, Jatin Dietl. “His age and the recent trend favoring more physically assertive strikers have contributed to this decline. Nonetheless, Lautaro’s outstanding qualities—intelligent movement, precise finishing, and leadership—ensure he is still a crucial figure for Inter. He is among the most consistent forwards in the league, though the evolving market dynamics may limit his ability to maintain the highest market values in the future.”

Conversely, Kenan Yıldız of Juventus has emerged as one of the most promising talents in Europe. “Over the past months, he has made remarkable progress, notably standing out in the Club World Cup and starting the season on a high note,” Dietl noted. “At just 20, he has already become a pivotal player for Juventus. His key attributes include exceptional technique, creativity in the attacking zone, and a maturity on the ball that allows him to thrive in critical situations.” Yıldız’s market value skyrocketed by 50%, increasing from €50 million to €75 million, solidifying his spot among Serie A’s top three for highest market values.

Serie A: Pulisic achieves personal best – Manu Koné continues to impress

At AC Milan, U.S. national team player Christian Pulisic has also been making waves. “Since his arrival in Serie A, he leads the league in goal contributions,” Dietl stated. “Although his age and a history of injuries may limit his potential market value, he has consistently performed among the best in the league. Beyond stats, Pulisic is distinguished by his speed, creativity, and versatility. He can change the course of a match through outstanding dribbling, incisive passing, or finishing. He is a cornerstone for Milan and one of the most dependable attacking players in Serie A.” Consequently, Pulisic’s market value rose by €10 million, bringing it to €60 million, marking his highest valuation since October 2020 while at Chelsea.

Another standout is Roma’s Manu Koné. “He is truly one of the most exciting talents in the league,” Dietl said. “His abilities were crucial to Roma becoming one of the top squads in the league this year. His strengths include ball recovery, energy, and poise under pressure, along with his capacity to drive play from midfield. Despite interception attempts from Inter over the summer, Roma rejected offers for him due to internal pressure, but they clearly recognize his potential for significant market value improvement in the future.” In this update, Koné saw a 25% increase in valuation from €40 million to €50 million.

Meanwhile, further north at Como, Argentine midfielder Nico Paz continues to shine. “He embodies every quality characteristic of a top player: strength, skill, intelligence, and adaptability,” Dietl remarked. “He has outgrown Como, with a promising future likely at Real Madrid. Inter made a move for him last summer, but it was futile. He seems poised to depart Serie A soon.” Paz’s market value has risen by €20 million, now totaling €55 million.

Serie A market values: Shifts at Atalanta

Atalanta has seen both ups and downs in their player market values. One rising star is Honest Ahanor. “It surprised many when Atalanta invested over €20 million, including bonuses, to acquire Ahanor from Genoa last summer; however, the young defender has impressed in his initial games,” Dietl commented. “His market value is expected to exceed that hefty transfer fee soon—a risky, yet astute acquisition for the club. Gattuso appears to be eyeing him once he attains his Italian passport.” At just 17 years old, Ahanor’s market value soared by 300%, increasing from €5 million to €20 million.

On the contrary, Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman experienced a decline, his value dropping by €20 million from €60 million to €40 million. “He explored the market in the summer, but except for a €45 million proposal from Inter, there was limited genuine interest,” Dietl explained. “His refusal to train at Atalanta has harmed his market value, and it appears the summer’s events may have deterred potential suitors.”

Understanding Transfermarkt market values

Transfermarkt’s market values are formulated using various pricing methodologies, heavily influenced by community discussions and evaluations. It’s crucial to note that these market values do not equate to transfer fees. The intention is not to predict a sale price but rather to represent a player’s expected value in an open market. Multiple individual transfer factors and contextual conditions influence market values.
