SECOND HALF
United’s control of possession grew stronger following a break interrupted by heavy rains that carried into the second half. However, Burnley managed to defend effectively whenever the Reds approached their goal.
Just before the hour mark, Abdoulaye made a significant attempt, skillfully receiving a superb through ball from Thwaites, but he failed to lift it over the agile Clarets goalkeeper Callum Feeney.
Feeney soon found himself in action frequently, making a crucial save against Eddie Ibrovic-Fletcher, who had recently substituted for Jariyah Shah.
Another excellent delivery from Thwaites on the right was headed back across the goal, where Gabriel attempted to control the ball and shoot swiftly, but he was unable to execute his effort before a defensive block intervened.
