UNPRECEDENTED ATTENDANCE
As United shifts its focus to next week’s second leg at Leigh Sports Village, Thursday’s match will leave a lasting impression in Norway, regardless of the outcome in the rematch. The 16,019 spectators set a new benchmark for women’s football in the Nordic region, surpassing the previous record established 25 years ago during an international match in Oslo.
The 17,500-seat Brann Stadion was filled to capacity, with fans proudly donning the red-and-white colors of the local club. Despite Skinner’s team controlling much of the game, we struggled to quieten the enthusiastic home crowd, a fitting backdrop for such an important clash.
In the lead-up to the match, Brann staff eagerly shared their excitement with our club media team about the anticipated electric atmosphere in the stadium. This surrounding energy was something Skinner acknowledged in his post-match discussion with the players. He later conveyed to MUTV that we can harness that same intensity against Brann in the upcoming match on our home ground.
