Mohamed Salah wins Player of the Year award - 'none came close to the Egyptian last season'

Each year, Transfermarkt users have the opportunity to vote for the player they believe outshone all others in Europe’s top leagues. This year, there was no question of who deserved the title of Premier League Player of the Season. Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah dominated the voting, securing an impressive 70.3 percent. He left his competitors far behind to earn the recognition as the Premier League’s best. Chelsea’s Cole Palmer and former Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, now Salah’s teammate at Liverpool, both finished in a tie for second and third place, each receiving 4.9 percent of the votes.

Salah’s performance last season was nothing short of extraordinary, as he recorded 29 goals and 18 assists across 38 league matches for Arne Slot’s squad. The 33-year-old forward outperformed every other player in the league with 18 more goal contributions than Isak, who came in second, leading both in goals and assists.

“Liverpool clearly stood out as the best team in the Premier League last season, with Salah at the forefront of their exceptional attack,” stated UK Area Manager Stefan Bienkowski. “Salah’s statistics are remarkable, and his stunning acceleration and dribbling skills make him a thrilling player to watch—a match-winner that even rival fans have to respect. While the Premier League boasts numerous world-class attackers, none matched the brilliance of the Egyptian international last season, who shows no signs of slowing down at 33.”

Throughout the summer, TM users cast their votes for the player of the season across 19 leagues globally, with 24 candidates in each competition. You can find all the winners and results from the top five leagues to Indonesia and Greece in the gallery below.
