Record Single-Season Spending of Each Premier League Club

We’ll go through the clubs alphabetically. Arsenal led the way by spending a total of €294 million during the summer, with their most significant investment being €70 million for midfielder Martín Zubimendi, setting a new record for the club. They also had the highest net spend in the world this summer. Aston Villa, on the other hand, reported a restrained €30 million expenditure due to the Premier League’s PSR regulations, although they spent €214 million in the previous season (2024/25). Bournemouth made headlines by breaking their transfer record this summer with €138 million spent, despite having the lowest net spend after making several high-profile sales.

Brentford also set a new record by spending €99 million this summer. Brighton’s record, however, was set last season when they spent €282 million in the 2024/25 campaign. Newly-promoted Burnley broke their club record this summer, investing €129 million. Chelsea, not surprisingly, holds the record for the most spent by any club in a single season, a staggering €630 million during the 2022/23 campaign. Manchester City had a €318 million spend in the 2017/18 season. Their rivals, Manchester United, set their own record this summer with €251 million spent, marking their highest total for a single season. Newcastle also surpassed their prior record, investing €289 million during this window. Nottingham Forest’s spending reached €237 million this summer, breaking their previous club record.

Newly-promoted Sunderland made history as well by spending €188 million, the highest for any newly promoted club in Premier League history, thereby setting their own record. Tottenham’s record is from the 2023/24 season, where they spent €272 million. West Ham’s record was established in the 2022/23 season with a total outlay of €197 million.
