Chelsea winger Tyrique George is on the verge of joining local rivals Fulham on a permanent transfer before the transfer window closes. The talented forward played against Fulham in the 2-0 victory at Stamford Bridge, coming on as a substitute for the injured Liam Delap. However, just days after this match, he is set to move to Marco Silva’s side.

As reported by The Athletic, Fulham have reached an agreement with Chelsea for a transfer fee of €25.4 million, and personal terms have been settled for a five-year contract that will run until June 2030. Although George had discussions with RB Leipzig and AS Roma regarding potential moves abroad, Fulham has emerged victorious in securing his services. He is expected to undergo a medical examination prior to the transfer being finalized before the September 1 deadline. This transfer will contribute to Chelsea’s total sales exceeding €340 million this summer, with additional exits anticipated shortly.

Tyrique George to Fulham

The 19-year-old graduated from Chelsea’s prestigious Cobham academy in the 2023-24 season and established himself within the first-team squad last year under Enzo Maresca. Despite making a significant impact and receiving praise from fans, most of his appearances were as a substitute, with only eight league games to his name. Ironically, his first league goal was scored against Fulham last season, a crucial moment that helped Chelsea secure fourth place in the league.

After Chelsea invested €235.4 million in new attacking players this summer, George was deemed surplus to the team’s requirements. The club secured Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund for €56 million and recently completed a €46.2 million deal for Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United. The arrival of Estêvão from Palmeiras has coincided with George’s diminished role this season, and the future signing of Geovany Quenda from Sporting CP in 2026 means Maresca will not need to find a replacement for George.

With George’s market value pegged at €10 million, Chelsea will receive a transfer fee that more than doubles this amount at €25.4 million. The agreement includes a sell-on clause, which has previously proven lucrative for Chelsea. This transfer marks a ‘pure profit’ sale under the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations, enhancing Chelsea’s capability to engage in future transactions.
