Ruben's Remarks: A Play by Play of His Press Conference Insights

Good afternoon, Ruben. After the loss to Grimsby, you mentioned the need for change, and the players clearly expressed their feelings about the performance. Can you elaborate on those comments just a few days later?

“I know that when I say certain things… to be completely honest, after any defeat like that—past or future—I will feel compelled to speak out. Sometimes I might express my frustrations with the players, and at other times, I might defend them. This is just how I operate. In that moment, I was incredibly frustrated and upset. I understand there are experienced voices suggesting that I should handle the media in a more measured and calm manner, but that’s not who I am. I’m learning to embrace my true self, which fuels my passion for this role. I was deeply disappointed following our pre-season preparations and the consistency we had shown in our play. We had an off 30 minutes against Fulham, and then to see that performance against Grimsby was really disheartening. But now, we turn our focus to the next game.”
