Thomas Tuchel has revealed his latest England squad as the Three Lions prepare for their World Cup Qualifiers. England will face Andorra at Villa Park on September 6, followed by a match against Serbia in Belgrade on September 9. Currently leading their group, England has won all three of their opening qualifiers. Notable inclusions are Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, who receives his first call-up after a strong performance in the Premier League and with the England U21s, and Tottenham defender Djed Spence, also making his debut in the squad. However, several valuable players have been left out. Using Transfermarkt’s market values, we identify the most notable absentees who are fit and available.
The most valuable players excluded from the latest England squad
The most notable omission from Tuchel’s list is Manchester City’s Phil Foden, valued at €100 million. Foden has not started in either of City’s first two Premier League matches, leading to his exclusion. Next is new Real Madrid right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, valued at €75 million, who has been surprisingly overlooked after not being featured in Los Blancos’ recent LaLiga game. Also missing from the squad is Arsenal’s young midfielder Ethan Nwaneri, who is valued at €55 million.
Another significant absentee is Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, valued at €50 million. The 20-year-old is reportedly seeking a loan move to secure more playing time and potentially regain his place in Tuchel’s plans ahead of the World Cup next summer. New Chelsea winger Jamie Gittens, also valued at €50 million, is similarly not part of the latest squad.
