Douglas Luiz joins Nottingham Forest from Juventus as fees revealed

Nottingham Forest has announced the loan signing of Douglas Luiz from Juventus, which includes a buy option. This is a significant addition for Forest as they look to continue their Premier League success from last season. Luiz, who joined Juventus last summer for €51.5 million from Aston Villa, struggled to secure a regular starting spot in Italy, accumulating only 877 minutes of playtime.

According to Transfermarkt, Aston Villa will pay Juventus an initial loan fee of €3 million, along with an obligation to buy clause worth €25 million based on Luiz’s appearances for Forest. Additionally, Forest has an option to purchase Luiz for €30 million if the required number of appearances is not met. Manchester City had shown strong interest in a loan deal for Luiz back in January, but the 27-year-old is set to return to the Premier League with Forest.

Luiz is the eighth new signing at Forest this summer, as Nuno Espírito Santo works to enhance his squad for their return to European football. Forest will compete in the Europa League, marking their first participation in European competitions in 30 years. Upon joining Forest, Luiz expressed, “I am really happy to be here. It’s a big club, and I chose to come here because of the club’s ambitions. I am excited to start with the team and give my best for the shirt and the fans.”

Chief football officer Ross Wilson commented on the signing, stating, “This transfer window has been a busy yet successful time for us, and Douglas is another addition that will add significant quality to our squad. He has experience playing at the highest level, understands the demands of the Premier League, and has competed in elite European tournaments. We’re thrilled to welcome Douglas to the team, and we’re confident he will receive a warm welcome from everyone at Nottingham Forest.”
