FIRST HALF
The Reds struck early, finding the net within the first minute when Sandberg received the ball from Lisa Naalsund in the penalty area. She swiftly turned and launched a left-footed shot into the top-right corner. Just three minutes later, Bizet extended the lead to 2-0, expertly controlling a crossfield pass from Malard, cutting in onto her left foot, and curling the ball beautifully over the goalkeeper.
As they continued to gain valuable pre-season experience, Skinner’s side showcased their quality early on, notching a third goal before the 20-minute mark. Malard intercepted a pass from the Betis defense and drove toward goal, creating an angle to slot the ball past the keeper in a calm one-on-one situation.
Dominating possession and pressing high, United enjoyed a successful outing in Marbella, leading 7-0 at halftime. Malard, fresh from her stint with France at the Euros, was the first of three Reds to score a brace in the first half, netting a stunning solo goal by skillfully maneuvering past multiple Betis defenders. Bizet soon followed, scoring her second by converting a rebound after Terland’s initial attempt was blocked.
As the break approached, Terland added two quick goals of her own. The first came from a free-kick delivered by Bizet from the left, which Terland controlled flawlessly before placing the ball into the bottom corner. The second goal was set up by new signing Julia Zigiotti Olme, who won back possession with a tackle that sent the ball to Teri, who finished decisively.
