Transfermarkt is globally recognized for its market values, serving various stakeholders across continents. Established in 2000, these market values were created to forecast player worth in a free market. By analyzing multiple pricing models and factors, Transfermarkt has assigned values to over 82,000 players, with regular updates throughout the season.

Transfermarkt data is frequently cited by leading media outlets, and clubs have referred to it during discussions with league officials—most famously, Juventus did so in a high-profile disciplinary case. Players have also expressed their views on their valuations, which have become a core part of the football community. Age plays a critical role in determining market values, as players typically see an increase in valuation with experience and exposure, followed by a decline as they approach the end of their careers. Using our exclusive data, we analyzed which age group holds the highest collective market value, based on data extracted on July 31st.

The graphic above highlights a symmetrical pattern across the valuations of different ages, with 26 years old being the second most valuable at €6.24 billion, and 24 years old rounding out the top three at €6.12 billion. In total, six age groups (22-27) surpass the €5 billion mark, indicating that this age range is when players’ valuations typically peak based on market trends. Additionally, every age between 18 and 36 has a combined valuation exceeding €1 billion, with Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal (18) currently recognized as the most valuable player globally at €200 million.
