The club will hold a 10-day training camp in Chicago as part of the Premier League Summer Series, featuring a match against Premier League rivals AFC Bournemouth at Soldier Field on Wednesday, July 30.
Continuing their tradition from previous tours, United will collaborate with local sports teams to harness the unifying power of sport, aiming to bring communities together, enhance physical and mental well-being, and foster youth development.
CHICAGO BEARS
On Sunday, July 27, over 150 local children will participate in a joint football clinic hosted by Manchester United and the Chicago Bears, focusing on both soccer and flag football skills. Flag football, which will debut at the LA Olympics next year, is a non-contact variant of American football where tackles are made by removing flags attached to a belt worn around the waist.
This clinic follows the Chicago Bears’ recent flag football tour in the UK, which included an event at Eccles College in partnership with the Manchester United Foundation. NFL legend Charles “Peanut” Tillman will team up with Wes Brown to guide the children through various activities, allowing them to experience each other’s sports.
In a statement, the Chicago Bears expressed their enthusiasm: “As we welcome Manchester United to Chicago and Halas Hall, the Chicago Bears are excited to strengthen the meaningful partnership we are developing. With our shared values and commitment to the community, the Bears are proud to collaborate once again with the Manchester United Foundation to promote sports at the grassroots level. Together, we aim to inspire young people to engage in sports, cultivate a passion for watching, and become proud supporters of both the Bears and Manchester United.”
