During a statement at the event, Lord Coe expressed his enthusiasm, saying: “I’m honored to be appointed as the chair designate for the proposed Old Trafford Mayoral Development Corporation.
“Throughout my career, I’ve witnessed how sports-driven regeneration can significantly strengthen communities and spur economic development. This was undoubtedly the case during the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics, and I now believe it is Greater Manchester’s time to shine.”
“By collaborating with Trafford Council and the Mayor, we have a tremendous opportunity to create new homes and jobs around the Manchester United stadium. Looking to the future, I envision the possibility of hosting the FIFA Women’s World Cup at a revamped Old Trafford Stadium in 2035. With the home nations as the sole bidders, this is an extraordinary chance to host the global football community.”
