HAPPY MONDAYS
Happy Mondays, another iconic band from the Factory Records label, made waves in the music scene alongside New Order. Their lineup featured the talented singers Shaun Ryder and Rowetta, alongside dancer Bez and drummer Gaz Whelan. They burst onto the scene in Pilton in 1990, during the peak of the ‘Madchester’ movement. The following year, they delivered a memorable performance at Leeds United’s Elland Road, famously opening with the line, “Are you Man U, you?”
OASIS
Fronted by the Gallagher brothers, who are devoted supporters of Manchester City, Oasis headlined Glastonbury twice—first in 1995 and again in 2004—before disbanding in 2009. However, amidst their City allegiance, there was a passionate Red in their midst during their 1995 appearance at the Pyramid Stage: guitarist and founding member Bonehead. Though he departed in 1999, he contributed to nearly all of their classic early tracks. Additionally, original drummer Tony McCarroll, who played on Oasis’s debut album, 1994’s Definitely Maybe, was also a devoted Manchester United fan.
