Celtic is well-acquainted with the fine balance of profiting from their star players while maintaining a stronghold in the Scottish Premiership. The Parkhead club has only lost one of their past ten league titles, an impressive achievement amplified by their €254 million earnings from player transfers during that period. This figure is likely to increase in the upcoming months.

Recent reports from Germany suggest that the Glasgow club may soon receive a compelling offer from RB Leipzig for their standout winger, Nicolas Kühn. The German outlet Kicker states that RB Leipzig is already in advanced discussions to acquire the 25-year-old and is eager to secure his signature in the next few weeks. Since joining Celtic from Rapid Vienna last January for just €3.5 million, Kühn has made a significant impact in Scotland. The question remains: what price will RB Leipzig be willing to pay for one of Celtic’s most sought-after talents this summer?

Last season, Kühn excelled in his role, contributing 21 goals and 15 assists across all competitions, averaging an impressive 0.98 goal contributions per 90 minutes. Notable performances included his contributions in high-stakes matches, such as four goals and assists in the Champions League—two of which were against RB Leipzig—and another goal against Bayern Munich in the knockout stage. As a result, Kühn’s market value has soared from €1.5 million at the time of his transfer to Celtic to an estimated €12 million now, and it could rise further should he secure a lucrative move this summer.

Celtic's top 10 biggest sales

Multiple reports from Scotland indicate that Celtic is seeking a fee of at least £15 million (€17.5 million) for Kühn if they opt to sell this summer, but they will likely aim for over €20 million from RB Leipzig. This aligns with the market rates for Celtic’s key players in recent years. As illustrated in the graphic, the club has secured substantial fees for their attacking talents, including the €29.5 million received from Brighton for Matt O’Riley and the €29.1 million from Al-Ittihad for Jota the previous season. If the fee exceeds €20 million, Kühn would enter the ranks of Celtic’s top five most valuable sales in history. However, it remains to be seen how keen RB Leipzig is to land the winger.
