The countdown has begun! In just seven months, the World Cup will return. This time, it will take place during its traditional summer slot in the UK. Next June, the USA, Canada, and Mexico will host the 2026 World Cup, which promises to be the largest tournament in history with 48 nations competing for the prestigious title. So far, only eight countries have ever won the World Cup.

During the last World Cup in Qatar, Argentina lifted the trophy for the third time, with captain Lionel Messi finally achieving the one honor that had eluded him for so long. With less than a year to go until the tournament kicks off again at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, 42 nations have already qualified. Let's take a look at who is on the list.

Starting with the three host nations, the USA, Canada, and Mexico will participate without the need for qualification matches, ensuring they play on home soil next summer. The South American qualification group wrapped up in September, confirming Argentina, Ecuador, Colombia, Uruguay, Brazil, and Paraguay's spots in the tournament. Bolivia still has a chance, but they will need to win a playoff to qualify.
